Coastguards were called to help a walker who had injured his ankle at Beer Head.

Beer and Lyme Regis Coastguards were called to the scent at 8.16pm on Friday.

The man had been walking alone from Exmouth to Poole and camping along the way. He tripped on the coast path While walking up Hooken Steps, near Beer Head.

The walker was stretchered to the top of the steps to await an ambulance paramedic to check his ankle.

He was advised that he needed to rest the ankle before carrying on his walk and coastguards arranged for him to pitch his tent and rest at Beer Head Caravan Park.

A spokesperson for Beer coastguards said: "We advise people to use the what3words app, which helps the emergency services to locate you quickly in an emergency, unfortunately this man did not have the app and initially it was unclear where he was."
