The 1st Beer Scout Group is looking for a new chairman, treasurer and secretary.

The Scout troop has quickly adapted to life during lockdown, running weekly meetings via video conferencing apps and setting tasks and activities for members to complete at home.

So far the Cubs and Scouts have held stay-at-home camps, treasure hunts, art lessons, cookery lessons and some traditional Scout badge work that could be completed at home. Next, they will experiment with linking to other Scout groups in the UK and abroad for live streaming events.

A spokesperson for the 1st Beer Scouts said: "A lot of work goes on behind the scenes of a Scout group and all the leaders and committee members are volunteers. Some have children in the group and some are just interested in what they do. Looking forward they are looking for help to strengthen the committee and are asking, can you help?

"Everyone's lives have been affected in different ways due to the sudden changes that COVID-19 and lockdown have caused, and as such, this has affected their ability to support 1st Beer Scout Group in the usual way.

So could you be the new group treasurer, group secretary or group chair?"

Anyone interested in finding our more information about these voluntary roles is asked to contact Scout leader Nigel Groves on 07980 437417 or email [email protected]
