Beer Film Society will be marking Bastille Day with a French theme screening

Oh la la... Beer Film Society is going French this month!

To celebrate its next show at the Mariners' Hall on Thursday, July 14 – Bastille Day, a national holiday in France – the society has decided to show a French-themed film accompanied by some tasty treats.

The film is 'A Good Year' (PG-13), directed by Ridley Scott in 2006 and starring Russell Crowe, Frank Finlay, Tom Hollander and Marion Cotillard.

This comedy-drama-romance is set in the beautiful countryside of Provence and sees Crowe play a British investment broker who inherits his uncle's chateau and vineyard in Provence, where he spent much of his childhood.

He slowly discovers a new laid-back lifestyle as he tries to renovate the estate to be sold.

The treats will be a selection of French cheese with biscuits, French sticks and other titbits.

Tickets including food cost £10 for guests, or you can become a member of the society and pay just £5 for tickets.

If you wish to attend and book your cheese plate, email [email protected] before Friday, July 8. Tables of four and six or individual tickets are available.

The bar will be open for refreshments – bottles of wine will be available at £14 – and Baboo Gelato ice creams will again be available for a dessert.
