Axe Valley Runners raise awareness of Seaton's life-saving equipment in Defib Dash
Axe Valley Runners raised awareness of the defibrillators available for public use in the Seaton area during this week's club night.
Several members of Axe Valley Runners recently took a first aid course, in which they learnt about the importance of and how to use potentially life-saving defibrillators (AEDs). These can use used by members of the public in the event of a medical emergency, such as a heart attack.
The running group's next step was to learn and raise awareness of the locations of all the defibrillators in and around Seaton.
For this week's club night, runners were split into groups and each had a map with a different route to locate as many defibrillators as they could. Dependent on the pace of each group, this ranged from four to eight.
More than 70 members joined the fun but important evening, followed by a barbecue at Seaton Cricket Club, where more than £200 was raised for MacMillan Cancer Support with a cake sale.
The club would like to thank Heather Simmons for organising and the barbecue chefs on the night, including Sarah and Ronnie Whelan and Claire Warner.
