Seaton & District Hospital League of Friends

The Seaton and District Hospital League of Friends was first registered as a charity in 1985 to support the community hospital serving Seaton, Colyton, Beer and neighbouring villages.

As well as having provided funds for a new hospital ward, and items of medical equipment, the charity now supports various activities out in the community, including a social support group, and has for the past 13 years funded a dedicated Seaton Hospice at Home service.

The charity also runs two shops in Seaton, and offers short-term lets in a bungalow to support carers wishing to take a break in the area.

The charity is now planning a period of growth and transformation and is for the first time looking to appoint a chief executive officer to help develop its ambitions and take us forward.

The key elements of the new post will be strategic leadership and finding new opportunities in the community where the charity can work to reduce hardship and social isolation brought about by ill health.

The CEO will work alongside the trustees in developing a successful finance and resources strategy, oversee the running of active projects, provide management support to the present managers, and help develop new rewarding opportunities for volunteers to work with the charity.

The League of Friends is looking for someone with a passion to get involved directly in local support services, the vision to see new areas that could be opened up to serve the community and meet its charitable aims, and the commitment and the enthusiasm and drive to follow these ideas and ambitions through to delivery.

The CEO will be confident in developing relationships with neighbouring community services, and an enthusiastic leader when working with our volunteers and clients.
