The Mayor of Seaton, Cllr Dan Ledger, cut the ribbon to officially open the town's new Tourist Information Centre on Thursday evening.

Following the annual town meeting, guests were invited to the opening of the Tourist Information Centre, which has been given a brand new home in the Marshlands Centre.

The information centre was given a temporary home at the Marshlands following the closure of Seaton Jurassic, where it was previously based, but has now been given a permanent home opening on to The Esplanade with a courtyard garden.

Popular features at the opening event were a professionally-made video on loop on a television screen, showing off the best of Seaton, and a huge deckchair in the garden which the mayor tried out himself.

The Tourist Information Centre is funded by the town council, and adjoins new offices for the council staff.

The council is planning to have a first aid station in the courtyard during weekends over the summer season, after the scheme proved successful last year.

They are also planning to introduce a beach to library, to cut down on plastic waste left on the beach, and a beach school for children in the summer holidays.
